It is believed to be the "Amakua" (spirit animal) of many Hawaiians. It protects them and appears in dreams for guidance. In Hawaiian culture the shark tooth is believed to protect it's owner from danger and provide personal power. This necklace is made in honor of Kamohoalii (lit. Hai. King of Teeth) who is a powerful Hawaii God and the purported King of Sharks in the island culture. A fabulous deity of fearsome power, Kamohoalii once reined as a powerful ruler of the Pacific Ocean.
